My name is Chef Jodi, my husband of ten years and our daughter live in Bremen. I have always enjoyed baking and have been baking since I’ve been a little girl. I was a high school dropout but decided to not let that be my story. I went back to school and got my GED at 24. After achieving that goal, I decided to get an associate’s degree in Baking and Pastry Arts at Ivy Tech. I graduated spring of 2018 and opened The Pretty Cakery in September of 2018. When choosing a location for my shop I felt like my hometown, Nappanee, was the perfect location. My goal was to create a second home for my customers, and bring a little bit of Paris to Nappanee.
I have always had a passion for baking and celebrating people, which is what gave me a desire to create a business around that. When business life gets rough I remind myself “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength” and he calms me and sets me in the right direction. Currently, I give a portion of all my sales to feed the orphans, giving hope, food, education, and opportunity to children that didn’t have the opportunity I have had in life. My ultimate goal is to build orphanages in the future.
We believe in starting out with the very best base of ingredients using lots of butter, fresh eggs, milk and flour. Whenever possible we try to outsource from local farms and dairies. Our goal is to give our customers a prompt and precise service while serving delicious, buttery, baked goods made from scratch product.
The Pretty Cakery is a place where everyone feels valued, special, and cared for. We love helping you celebrate life’s special moments.
